John McVie is an expert in alternating staccato (short) and legato (long) notes. In the Verse he uses staccato notes where you might expect legato notes. And in the Chorus he does exactly the opposite! The secret in the Chorus is to play the staccato notes not too short, but with a ‘rest’ in your mind.
The other ‘secret’ in playing this song is to keep it easy, relaxed and not with too many notes. I know it’s challenging to play a lot of notes with rhythmic changes, but I think it’s just as challenging to play ‘easy’ basslines in a relaxed and accurate way. And this bassline is just that!
I also like the chords in the outro of this song, it’s worthwhile checking this.
