By popular request, here's my take on Maria También, one of my all-time favourite Khru songs. I really enjoyed putting the backing track together and recording the guitar part. I've previously taught this tune to a couple of my private students so I already knew it pretty well.

In terms of what I'm playing, I've done a mix of being really faithful to the original in some parts. In other sections I'm taking some of his live performance additions, and then I've also sprinkled in a few of my own bits throughout the song.

I'm using my Strat for this one as Mark Speer seems to use middle position on his Strat for this tune, so I figured I could get the tone fairly close this way.

However, I've used a slightly different approach in getting my guitar sound in this one. I've split my guitar signal into 2 using my BOSS tuner. Then one of those signals is going directly into the interface. The other guitar signal is going into a wah and then into the interface (this is why you can see two tracks being recorded on Logic behind me). This way I can blend the regular guitar sound with the wah guitar sound. I found having just the wah sound, especially with the strat, was way too nasal, spiky etc. So this was a great workaround that allowed me to get that mid-heavy wah sound without losing that nice, rounded tone.
