Description
Hello :)
This is the requested transcription I've done of the song "Nicest Kids in Town" from the 2007 musical "Hairspray". I don't know who the bass player on this track was? If anyone does know, please leave a comment and I'll update this description.

I have some experience playing musical theater, and if it's a good musical, it can be a lot of fun to play and sometimes very challenging. Some of the most difficult songs I've played have come from musical theater shows.
Because you're dealing with dancers and the theater, there are lots of little things in the music that you might not think are important, but other people are relying on for their cue. It becomes important to play the part and, play it accurately and consistently. The music tends to be a little more demanding and you have to keep your head up and be able to adapt to whats happening on the stage. Reading (not TAB) is a must have for theater gigs. You're dealing with different instruments, genres, arrangements, time signatures, keys, tempos...the whole gamut of playing music and being a musician. You have to be well prepared, and if you're not, you have to learn...quickly ;)
If you get an opportunity and you're up for a challenge, I highly recommend taking any kind of theater gig or one that has dancers and choreography. It can be very rewarding and it's an opportunity to grow as a musician.
This is a Rock and Roll song that's fun to play, and it has a ton of energy. Some might find the tempo and some of the chromatic notes they used are a little tricky at first, but just remember it's the same pattern in all the different keys. There are a few ways you could play this. I usually try to find the easiest way, with the least amount of moving. Try to play effortlessly...always ;)
I played this using a 5 string, but it can be easily played on a 4 string which I've notated it for as there was only one note (Eb) on the 5th string.
I hope you enjoy it :)
Don't forget to "like" and "subscribe" and thanks for watching :)
